"Battle of Barock IV" in Fulda

Sakvan Arab and Jakob Styben in Action at "Battle of Barock IV" in Fulda

This past Thursday, we traveled to Fulda, Germany, to take part in the kickboxing event Battle of Barock IV, organized by none other than Sergej Braun. The fights were held under WAKO-Pro rules – meaning no clinching or holding, and after three knockdowns, the fight is over.

Sakvan Arab Dominates in His Final B-Class Fight

Sakvan Arab appeared on the undercard and fought his final B-class bout against Damian Aurelian, an 18-year-old rising talent from Romania. The match consisted of three rounds of three minutes each. Sakvan showed from the start that he’s ready for the next level. He dominated the fight and remained unfazed by the knees to the head that Damian occasionally landed. With a convincing performance, Sakvan closes the B-class chapter and is ready for the A-class.

Jakob Styben Claims the WAKO-Pro European Title

The co-main event of the evening featured Jakob Styben. After completing his training camp at Fight Game Academy, Jakob stepped into the ring in Fulda with a strong team in his corner: coach Sem Schilt, trainer David Schiller, and cutwoman Laura Pinnecke.

Jakob fought for the WAKO-Pro European title against Mesud Selimovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mesud entered the ring following a controversial win at Glory, while Jakob made his comeback after suffering a heavy knockout and a broken jaw.

The bout was fought at 88 kg and scheduled for five rounds of three minutes. Jakob controlled the center of the ring from the start and kept Mesud at bay. After a somewhat messy first round, Jakob regained focus and stuck more closely to the game plan. Mesud managed to bring some tension back in the final round, but Jakob deservedly took the win by split decision.

Looking Ahead: Enfusion Groningen

Both Jakob and Sakvan are now preparing for their next fights. Sakvan has something special ahead: his A-class debut at Enfusion on June 14 in Groningen. Want to be there?
